Just got back from a ride on Fierce and a chat with the Big G. The brain cobwebs are cleared, my spirit is lifted and yes, I stalked investigated our new place too. Holy. Cow. My new kitchen…there is just one word to describe how it makes me feel. Hilariosity.
(For my Facebook homies, I’ll post some pics there as soon as I find the camera USB cord!
If we’re not Facebook homies, click the button on the right, I’d love to be “friends” with you! ![]()
Okay, now the real reason I parked myself up to the computer…this picture. If you double-click on it, you can see it even better.
(This picture was taken and permitted by friend, triathlete, home decorator extraordinaire, and hair net wearin’ Joann. Thanks Jo!)
Beautiful, huh? It is a picture that speaks a thousand words. But I’ll just write a few less…
Imagine if you would, that I’m the yellow leaf…it doesn’t matter which one, but my ego prefers that you’d pick the trimmest of the three.
The flowing river water is symbolic to my life. When I spend more time connecting to God, instead of focusing on my rapid water life – I feel like the “trim” yellow leaf. Stable. Unmovable. Protected. At Peace.
When I spend more time focused on life and get my eyes off connecting with God, there’s no trim yellow leaf anymore. The raging water consumes me. I chug downstream, dictated by currents, gasping for breath.
God is doing some very new things here at the Fink home. The process isn’t complete, but it appears that God’s directing us to rent our current home. Just to be clear, that was not in our plans. We’ve stepped out in faith, and keep telling God, “We don’t know what you’re doing, but we trust you.” I won’t lie, I’ve wavered. I’ve chilled serenely on the Rock (not Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson – the Big G!) and I’ve gasped for air as I tried to figure out what life is doing. Thanks to God, we are able to do this financially – but our comfort level with being “the Ropers” (as if… ) isn’t the same as being the one-home-ownin’-Finks. I know God’s not concerned quite as much with our comfort level as He is with our faith level. I want to be found faithful, chillin’ on The Rock …and continuing to use the word “trim” too. ![]()
I want to encourage you today to not let the raging waters of life consume you. Do whatever you need to do to stay connected to God more than the powerful stress currents of life.
What words did this picture speak to you?
