This morning as I went to silently commune with God on my beautiful front porch,
dead flowers greeted me.
I know that I’ve confessed my lack of green-thumb-ness to you before.
Well, I wasn’t lying.
I rolled my eyes and tried my plum best to blame their demise on our Puerto Rico trip. But the truth is, they weren’t looking so hot before we left.
It’s amazing what water can do. Heck, look what a little water does for a bunny Chia Pet?!?!

Hummm, a Chia Pet…why haven’t I thought of them before? Maybe because they’re a little bit creepy? Maybe I need to do baby steps and try nurturing one to build up a little gardener’s street cred???
This time of silent prayer with God hasnt’ exactly been quiet. This is me we’re talking about here.
No, as the gentle morning breeze kissed my skin, I thanked God.
So many things pulling on me in different directions…health hiccups, to relationship hurts, to ministry opportunities to trying to squeak out a little post in between my most full life.
But this one step of retreating for a time alone, silently before God builds strength. Builds gratitude. Gratitude I wouldn’t be able to muster up in my own strength.
Guess what I’m really saying is that being alone with God waters my spirit and gives me strength…kinda like watering the Chia Pet – you get results! 
Chia Pets…creepy or cool? Have you grown one before?
there is a house right next to our church that has a million or maybe even a billion fake flowers in their yard! Creepy or Cool? Heck I think it’s funny and at the same time bringing a little color to their yard and neighborhood!! In FL if you don’t plan on watering alot, plant native or go with the Chineese ones (fakes). As far as Chia pets never grew on but my son got one for his birthday which still is in it’s box–somewhere. Maybe we will have to grow it this summer and see what happens!
Steph, I’d go with the Chineese version in the pots on the porch, low matainance and you only have to deal with them twice, once when you ‘plant’ and once when you replace!!

I replanted annuals (red begonias…God’s speed to em’) late this afternoon…we’ll see?!?!? We had a some old neighbor that planted “Chinese” ones and I must say…I dug the color!

Hi, Steph – I don’t recall having actually grown a chia pet myself, but I have used artificial plants/flowers for my front porch…of course, the dirt is always real! Love you, my friend! Liz
