The Encouraged In Heart blog is all about the things most important to the authors, Dave and Steph Fink…faith, family, finances, fitness, food, friendship and funnies.
Who is Steph Fink?
I’m a former cop turned stay at home mom and freelance writer. I live in Northern Virginia with my hubby, Dave and our two sons, Jake and Cal. My passion is to encourage women, with practical principles to live a purposeful and powerful life in Christ!
In July 2002, God opened my eyes that true health involved lifestyle choices with my mind, body and spirit. You see, I carried unresolved emotional weight which translated to physical weight. After a lifetime of emotional eating, I was obese. I needed a spiritual solution, God. God helped me face my emotions and over the course of seven years, I slowly lost and kept off 60 pounds.

My hair color and pants sizes have changed many times these past seven years, but the one thing that’s not changed is God’s love for me (you too!). He loved me at 207 pounds and He loves me today at 147 pounds! The only difference is that I’m healthier and happier to enjoy His love!

In January 2008, I started this blog about my emotional eating addiction recovery (hence the weekly weigh in category). I’ve since expanded my writing topics. You’ll find that I often write in stream of consciousness, with far too frequent references to Lucy (my scale, who was once called Lucifer) and my sexy minivan…but hey, what can I say, that’s just how I roll!

Who is Dave Fink?
Dave’s the dude that faithfully loves on and funds the Fink Fam. If it wasn’t for his technical expertise, I’d be writing you via snail mail. He’s a government contractor, volunteer firefighter and proud West Virginia University MANIAC!
In January 2009, Dave lost an competitive thumb wrestling match to Steph. Since that sweet victory, you’ll find regular posts titled, “Finance Fridays with the Finkster”. Dave has a passion to help people follow God’s design to live debt free. You’ll know it’s Dave writing because he uses less words, more unga-bunga and certainly not enough exclamation points and smiley faces!
Sadly, we both make far too many 80′s references…and for that, we apologize in advance! We’re both proud Armed Forces veterans hailing from different cultures…well, that’s only sorta true. Dave’s a West Virginia boy that married a crazy Jersey girl (no, I won’t tell you what exit!) and needless to say due to the co-mingling of our genetics, we need you to pray for our kids!

(See what I mean?)
We hope your heart is encouraged today!
Blessings,
Dave and Steph
“My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.” Colossians 2:2

thank you for your unending encouragement. God knew I needed you.
We need each other!
All the best, Steph! I’m so proud of you. I was just telling my family a story about you during our freshman year in college–when you fell asleep on the train, missed the UD stop and ended up in Maryland! You would always make the us laugh and were a comfort during our Kent Hall days. I’m so blessed to have a friend like you. Love you! XOX Chele
CHELE!!!! (you know how I like to say it!)
Your comment brought the biggest smile to my face as being around you has that effect on me! Do you remeber Dani that night when I didn’t come off the train calling campus security (like they were going to do anything – holy cow – TOO funny!). Thanks for your words. love and friendship! You made freshman year college super special with memories by your sweet ways, contagious laugh and hysterical sense of humor! Was SO wonderful seeing you at Sage’s wedding. I’m so grateful for the tender heart you have!
Thanks for brightening my day today! Love you Chele!
Looking faaaaabulous, darling!
